About Tachyon
Particle accelerators sit at the center of some of humanity's most important industries. They are used to test spacecraft electronics, manufacture medical isotopes, inspect critical infrastructure, advance fusion research, probe new materials, and explore fundamental physics. Yet despite their importance, accelerator technology has remained largely confined to national laboratories, universities, and bespoke (but enormous) government programs. Tachyon Industrial was founded to change that.
We are building a High Energy Physics Prime, the first venture-scale industrial accelerator company: a vertically integrated business focused on designing, manufacturing, and operating the next generation of particle accelerator infrastructure. First to use them for testing electronics, but eventually to use them to produce antimatter to build propulsion systems to take us beyond low earth orbit.
The Role
We're looking for a generalist operations person to help us stand up the physical labs and facilities Tachyon will need over the next two years and to be the person who makes sure everything else around that gets handled too. This role is genuinely broad: one week you might be coordinating a buildout with contractors and a landlord, the next you're managing procurement and vendor logistics for lab equipment, and on any given day you're the reason the fridge is stocked, the office runs, and nothing administrative falls through the cracks.
This isn't a narrow facilities or office-management role. We need someone who treats "whatever needs to get done" as the actual job description, and who can go from high-stakes facilities planning to mundane logistics without missing a beat.
What you'll do
- Lead the planning and buildout of lab and facility space as Tachyon scales over the next two years, working with landlords, contractors, and vendors on space, power, HVAC, and other infrastructure needs
- Stand up the operational backbone of a physical hardware lab: procurement, equipment receiving/logistics, inventory, shipping/receiving for components and machine parts
- Own day-to-day office and lab operations: the unglamorous stuff that keeps a small team running smoothly (supplies, the fridge, scheduling, vendor relationships, whatever's broken)
- Identify operational gaps before they become problems: if something's about to be a bottleneck, you see it and fix it before being asked
- Support the team across whatever functional gaps come up: HR/people-ops basics, vendor contracts, logistics for events or lab visits, you name it
- Build the operational systems and processes that let a small, fast-moving technical team focus on the technical work
What we're looking for
- A track record of high competence in operations, facilities, office management, or a comparable generalist role
- High agency: you don't wait to be told; you see what needs doing and you do it, whether that's negotiating with a contractor over liquid Helium deliveries or restocking the kitchen
- Creativity under constraint: you find a way to get the lab built or the problem solved even when budget or timeline is tight
- Ambition: you want real ownership over how this company physically operates, not just a checklist of tasks
- A collaborative style: this is a small team so how you work with others matters as much what you accomplish, and you're often the connective tissue between the technical team and the outside world (landlords, vendors, contractors)
- Courage paired with judgment: you are comfortable making calls and owning outcomes, but know when to flag something to the founders before committing
- Operates with real urgency: you are biased toward fast, working solutions over slow, perfect ones
- Genuinely willing to do anything: there's no task too small or too unglamorous if it needs doing
Nice to have (not required)
- Experience standing up lab or technical facility space (wet lab, hardware lab, manufacturing, or similar)
- Experience with procurement and vendor management for technical/scientific equipment
- EHS, safety, or regulatory compliance exposure (not required — happy to train on this given our radiological and RF environment)
- Background at an early-stage hardware or deep-tech startup
