About the Role
This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage healthtech startup building AI-powered revenue cycle management software for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agencies. You'll be a core member of a small, fast-moving team — shaping architecture, shipping product, and talking directly with customers to help EMS agencies recover denied insurance claims and protect critical 911 services.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end development: architecture, code, deployment, and on-call responsibilities.
- Build customer-facing features informed by direct conversations with billers, fire chiefs, and operations leaders.
- Ship automation that reduces manual work and saves agencies significant revenue.
- Make product and design tradeoffs with a strong UX sensibility.
- Iterate quickly — deploy, gather customer feedback, and continuously improve.
- Collaborate closely with the founding team in a hybrid in-person cadence (SF 2–3 days/week).
What We're Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience building full-stack products end-to-end.
- Strong CS fundamentals, high attention to detail, and clear communication skills.
- Proficiency in React with demonstrated product and UX sensibilities.
- Experience with customer-facing feature development and translating customer needs into technical deliverables.
- Backend and infrastructure experience with Go, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with APIs, LLMs, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Background in EMS, 911 services, healthcare, or insurance billing is a strong plus.
- NREMT certification is a bonus.
- Prior experience as a founder or founding engineer is a plus.
- Comfortable with a hybrid in-person schedule in San Francisco.
