In Pursuit of this mission, we are looking to hire a School Nurse. The school nurse may be assigned to any pre-K through 12th grade school within the Lansing School District. The school nurse provides professional nursing service to a variety of general education and special education students. School Nurses provide routine health care, case management, and emergency care within the school setting. The nurse will develop emergency care plans for students with acute and chronic health conditions, develop medical care plans for students with chronic health conditions, and assist students and families with access to school and community resources to improve health and remove barriers to school attendance and performance. The nurse may provide coordination of communicable disease in schools including health department reporting, case management, and prevention services. The school nurse will provide staff training, coordinate the school Medical Response Team, oversee the AED program, and provide annual training for medication administration, emergency medication administration, and a wide variety of health and wellness activities as assigned. School Nurses may participate in IEP team meetings, the development of behavior management plans, and other student plans to improve student success. The school nurse will function within the Nurse team to provide a wide range of health promotion, disease prevention, and coordination of care for all students within their assigned school(s).
