About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer with a strong focus on mobile design, who's also comfortable working across web platforms and contributing to user research. In this role, you'll take ownership of complex, ambiguous problems end-to-end, help shape our mobile design strategy, and partner with cross-functional teams and leadership to design intuitive, user-centered experiences that solve real problems.
You should bring deep expertise in mobile UI/UX principles, strong instincts for ambiguity, and the judgment to set direction rather than just execute against it. You're someone who can turn a loosely defined problem into a clear point of view, then rally a team—including other designers—around it.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design process for complex, high-impact mobile initiatives, from problem framing through shipped experience.
- Set design direction and strategy for the mobile platform, partnering with product and engineering leadership on roadmap and prioritization.
- Mentor other designers on the team, providing feedback and helping raise the bar for craft, process, and rigor.
- Actively participate in design critiques and reviews at a high level, modeling best practices for the broader design team.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and fellow designers to align design work with business goals and technical feasibility.
- Embed with agile teams to deliver user experiences that are both beautiful and functional.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to communicate ideas and iterate quickly.
- Design seamless mobile (and web) experiences, ensuring consistency across platforms.
- Engage with users to understand needs, gather feedback, and validate design decisions.
- Plan and conduct user research, turning insights into actionable design outcomes.
- Partner with product management to shape requirements and translate ambiguous problems into compelling, user-centric designs.
- Collaborate with developers to test and validate that implemented features match design specifications and meet quality standards across iOS and Android platforms.
- Contribute at a high level to our design system's consistency, scalability, and speed—including setting standards other designers build on.
- Stay current on design trends, tools, accessibility guidelines, and other best practices, and help the team adopt AI to increase overall efficiency and quality.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of experience in product design or UX/UI roles, with a track record of increasing scope and ownership.
- Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end mobile-first design work, including at least one example of leading a project from ambiguity to shipped, measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading other designers, formally or informally.
- Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools, with fluency in AI-assisted design and dev workflows (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, Git/GitHub, VS Code, Xcode, Android Studio).
- Deep understanding of user research methods, with experience designing and running research independently—not just applying others' findings.
- Experience designing responsive interfaces across multiple devices and platforms.
- Strong UX writing and communication skills, including comfort presenting design rationale to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Familiarity with native mobile UI frameworks (SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose).
- Familiarity with iOS (Human Interface Guidelines) and Android (Material Design).
Nice to Have
- Experience contributing to or scaling a mobile design system across multiple platforms.
- Familiarity with designing AI-based experiences, including agentic workflows.
- Comfort using command-line tools and terminal basics.
- Awareness of mobile app development processes and constraints.
- Experience designing for GIS/map-centric platforms.
- Prior experience with audio, photo, or AR-driven UI/UX patterns—interfaces that go beyond the mobile screen.
- Experience influencing product strategy or roadmap decisions as a design partner, not just an executor.
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JS).
Soft Skills
- Empathetic and user-driven; you design with people, not just pixels, in mind.
- Self-directed and comfortable setting your own priorities under ambiguity.
- Highly detail-oriented, with an eye for visual consistency and polish.
- Open to feedback and eager to grow—comfortable iterating quickly.
- Strong communicator who can explain design rationale clearly and concisely, including to leadership.
- Comfortable with candor—we value honest, constructive conversations.
- Assertive in your ideas but collaborative in your approach.
- A generous mentor—invested in raising the level of the whole design team, not just your own output.
Other
- Ability to work effectively across multiple remote, cross-functional teams.
- Portfolio and case studies demonstrating your design process and the scope/impact of your ownership.
- English proficiency: B2–C1 level.
