The employer page is the source of truth. JobStar is a discovery layer. Before applying or relying on a detail, confirm that the employer's linked posting still exists and matches the JobStar page.
Primary data source and attribution
JobStar's listing pipeline uses the Open-Apply Jobs dataset on Hugging Face. That independently maintained dataset publishes daily snapshots of public job-board data collected from the public APIs of Ashby, Greenhouse, and Lever. Its source project documents tenant discovery, fetching, normalization, coverage, and known limitations.
JobStar is not affiliated with the dataset maintainer, those applicant tracking providers, or the employers represented in the data. Employer descriptions and trademarks remain attributable to their respective owners.
Ingestion and publication process
- Wait for the dated source snapshot and download the Ashby, Greenhouse, and Lever partitions.
- Compare the snapshot with the previous calendar day to identify newly observed job IDs.
- Normalize source fields into a shared schema for title, employer slug, application URL, description, department, locations, work arrangement, dates, and structured compensation when supplied.
- Store new records by their source job ID, generate stable public tokens, and refresh aggregate company and browse counts.
- Publish a JobStar detail page whose application action points to the source-provided employer or ATS URL.
The scheduled pipeline runs daily in the Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh time zone and retries when the source snapshot is late. A missed or failed source run can delay what appears on the site.
What freshness means
- Posted date is the timestamp supplied by the ATS when available; JobStar does not invent one.
- First seen is the date JobStar first observed the job in an ingested daily snapshot. It is not necessarily the employer's publication date.
- Updated counts reflect the latest successfully ingested snapshot and refreshed database views.
JobStar currently accumulates newly observed records. The source dataset does not publish an explicit closed timestamp, and JobStar does not yet automatically tombstone every job that disappears from a later snapshot. A JobStar URL can therefore remain available after an employer closes or changes the role. A broken source link or closed employer page should be reported for removal.
Coverage and known limitations
- Coverage is limited to public boards using Ashby, Greenhouse, or Lever; many enterprise and regional ATS platforms are absent.
- Source collection can miss, delay, or misattribute tenants, and an employer can rename or replace its board.
- The same role can appear more than once when an employer publishes through multiple systems.
- Location, remote status, employment type, and salary fields are source-dependent and can be missing or inconsistent.
- Job descriptions are normalized for display, which can simplify source formatting.
- A public posting does not prove that an employer is actively interviewing or that a candidate will receive a response.
Ranking and presentation
Browse pages generally order jobs by JobStar's first-seen date, then the source's posted date when available, with a stable ID tie-breaker. The unfiltered homepage rotates among recent result pages on shared five-minute windows so older discoveries receive some exposure. Company directories rank companies by the number of records associated with their source slug.
JobStar currently has no paid listing placement, sponsored employer rank, or candidate matching score. Filters use normalized source fields and do not represent an editorial endorsement.
Corrections, removals, and employer claims
Anyone may report an inaccurate, closed, duplicated, unsafe, or misattributed listing. Employers and authorized representatives may also request company-page corrections or removal. Use the contact page and provide the JobStar URL, official employer source URL, requested action, and verifiable public evidence.
Requests are assessed against the current employer page, ATS board, and other public evidence. A validated request may lead to correction or removal. A claim does not create a company account, grant control over unrelated content, or provide access to applicants—JobStar has no applicant records.
Editorial methodology
JobStar's advice library is general educational material published under the JobStar Editorial Team name. Articles are designed around conservative decision rules: prefer current employer instructions, separate observed facts from inference, avoid invented precision, identify jurisdictional differences, and direct high-stakes legal, tax, immigration, medical, or financial questions to qualified professionals.
- Articles carry publication and update timestamps.
- Advice does not override employer instructions or local law.
- JobStar does not claim access to recruiter notes, private application states, or unpublished hiring intent.
- Editorial pages connect readers to current source listings but do not guarantee outcomes.
- Material factual errors can be reported through the same public correction process.
Change history and accountability
JobStar's implementation and change history are public in its GitHub repository. This methodology will be updated when sources, freshness handling, ranking, analytics, or correction procedures materially change.
